"The pump was helpful and effective."
Outpatient Infusion Systems (OIS) is a high-quality, cost-effective, specialty durable medical equipment (DME) provider of ambulatory infusion pumps and supplies to outpatient oncology centers.
Our program serves a specific niche—outpatient oncology clinics. Our infusion pumps are used to treat cancer patients who are prescribed continuous infusion chemotherapy. This specific type of treatment requires that the medication be administered over an extended period of time—12 hours or more. The patient visits their oncology center where their therapy is administered and involves the clinician connecting the pump to the patient. Once deemed stable by the clinician, the patient is discharged to return home and resume their usual activities until the infusion is complete, after which they return to the clinic for a refill of medication or to be disconnected from the pump.
By administering this treatment on an outpatient basis, the patient receives the very best quality of care in the most cost-efficient manner possible... This special arrangement between the oncologist and OIS is considered the best option for many reasons. Our service is a partnership with the practice, and allows the physician to maintain control of the patient's treatment, providing continuity of care. Our program allows chemotherapy protocols to be strictly maintained, a critical issue as it relates to cancer care. It also eliminates costly home care visits.
Our service extends beyond the pump and supplies and includes 24/7 support to patients via the OIS Patient-Nurse Connection, a 24-hour telephone on-call service staffed by certified oncology nurses, to help resolve technical issues on the pump. A language interpreter is available for our non-English speaking patients.
Outpatient Infusion Systems bills the patient's insurance company for the use of the pump and supplies; the oncology office bills for professional services, including chemotherapy preparation and administration of medication.
Other information about our program:
Accreditation – We were the first ambulatory pump company accredited by the Community Health Accreditation Program (CHAP), a national organization which ensures the highest quality standards of care are met in a number of key areas for patient care, excellence and safety.
Innovative – As a market leader in ambulatory infusion, we were first to develop the industry's first and fully paperless solution for ambulatory devices, OIS Paperless. This technology solution greatly reduces the time required to administer our program in-clinic. A simple barcode scan accurately captures critical pump information at the time of infusion.
Quality Service – We maintain a rigorous total quality management (TQM) program, ensuring the highest level of customer satisfaction for the clinics and patients we serve and strive for 100% customer satisfaction. Our
pumps feature the latest available technology for continuous infusion therapy and undergo yearly preventive maintenance (PMs) checks for quality and safety.
Cost-Effective – Providing a cost-effective solution for patients, clinics and insurance companies is a top priority. We are a Medicare provider and have contractual relationships with most major managed care organizations on a national and regional basis.
The outpatient setting, where our program is administered, is more cost-effective than other options, including the emergency room, hospital, home health care or skilled nursing facility.
Proven – Our company was founded in 2002, has a proven track-record, and today serves hundreds of oncology clinics, allergy/immunology practices and hospitals throughout the U.S. for their ambulatory infusion pump needs.
Established Billing Guidelines – We follow established Medicare and Medicaid billing guidelines.
Primary Service Area – Our program is national in scope with our services available in all 50 states.
